Germans attach importance to sustainability when shopping. This is the result of a recent study by Statista. In the survey, three quarters of those questioned (75 percent) said they take their own bag with them when shopping. Another 16 percent stow their purchases in their handbag or rucksack. Only 8 percent said they buy shopping bags in the supermarket.

What we need to do and learn

  • Understand why plastic bags will be sold overpriced or even abolished in Europe in the future.
  • Use alternative and long-term stable products such as backpacks and bags made of sustainable materials.
  • Become a role model by motivating people from your surroundings to live sustainably through the design and functionality of jute products.
  • Reduce waste and protect our home.
